Dress to Impress: What to wear to Corporate Events During the Summer

It’s June and we all know what that means: summer is finally here! Hello beach days, fireworks and barbeques! While those things are all fine and good, most of us here still have to work in the midst of all the summer fun….

Working in sweltering heat is challenging, particularly when it comes to how to dress for corporate events. You want to remain professional, but at the same time, stay as cool as possible when the weather app reads 90 degrees Fahrenheit.

Although Ayza is not a corporate office, we have over a decade of experience working with those types of events through our private events service. Business meetings, corporate gatherings…we’ve done it all and know a thing or two about how to maintain a comfortable but professional look in stifling weather. For all you working women out there, check out our top fashion tips and tricks on how to combat the heat in a professional manner:

Wear a scarf.

Yes, you heard us right. Scarves can be a fashionable accessory all year round! Instead of using it to trap heat though, in the summer, keep one on hand (either tied around your purse or tucked away) to tie back your hair when you don’t want it on your face anymore. Use a scarf like this, this or this as a cute makeshift headband that’s stylish and functional.

Buy clothes that breathe.

Don’t get caught in a heat chokehold of your own making – wear breathable fabrics that allow air to pass through them. Cotton and linen are both fabulous options. Cotton shirt, linen pants and you’re set, and very chic might we add!

And while you’re at it, make sure they’re light in color too.

Not only are light-colors fashionably seasonal, they also keep you cool. Light-colored clothing reflects sunlight, as opposed to absorbing it like dark-colored clothing. Stay temperate and elegant in this, this and this.

If you worry about wet marks on your clothes, wear patterns rather than solids.

It happens to the best of us: sweat stains. Sometimes your perspiration has just got to make itself known. That’s okay though! An easy solution to this issue is to wear patterns like this and this, rather than solids like to better disguise the stains.

Follow these tips and you’re sure to be looking AND feeling good all summer long!

Oh, and of course, what you eat and drink can have a huge impact on your temperature. At Ayza, we serve just the right chilled cocktails, fresh appetizers and cool salads to keep our corporate event patrons, or any customer who needs a break from the heat, refreshed.
